THE PARENT CENTER
(El Centro De Padres)
Room 502
Benjamin Franklin High School hosts a Parent Center that welcomes parents, as well as community members, for school-related meetings and special events. It is a resourceful hub for parents to learn about the school governance, to support students, to take classes, and to celebrate parent participation in the process of their children’s education.
Regular monthly meetings include SSC and ELAC. Also, PTSA meets to plan events and fundraising activities. Parent workshops are provided at various times throughout the year and informational fliers are mailed to students’ home as invitations for parent participation.
We welcome all FHS parent participation in the SSC and ELAC elections and subsequent meetings. We need your attendance and full support in order to give the parents access to voice their opinions and vote in the decision-making supplemental funds. Training will be provided and the meeting schedules will be determined by the members of the ELAC & SSC.
Important documents for SSC and advisory meetings can be found in the Parent Center. LAUSD produces guidelines (that is Bulletins, Memorandums, and Referendums), which explain the policies and procedures for these meetings. If there is any documentation needed, please make a request in writing and it will be provided for you.
Our Community Representatives, Angelica Bejar and Andrea Aguilar, maintain the Parent Center and facilitate communication between parents, the community, and the school. Bilingual assistance is provided, as well. Important meeting dates are placed on a public calendar on the Parent Center wall. Room requests must be in writing and approved by the Coordinator.
Please, contact the Parent Center, at (323) 550-2008, with any inquiries you may have about the activities and resources of the Parent Center.
