 Expectations of Student Athletes

Our motto: Academics before Athletics

As representatives of Franklin High School, all student athletes are expected to be positive role models both on and off the field.

Attendance on Game Days: Student athletes must be on time every day. On game days, student athletes are required to be on time and attend a minimum of 4 periods that day. Failure to do so will result in the student athlete being unable to participate in any athletic contests.

 Academic Eligibility 2.0 + GPA

Your ability to become a member of any high school sport team in LAUSD is based upon a number of factors but one of the most important is your academic eligibility. LAUSD requires a minimum 2.0 GPA (Grade Point Average), or a certain number of grade points, in at least four (4) classes to be eligible to play a sport.

School-wide Policy against Hazing

FRANKLIN HS strives to maintain a healthy learning environment and athletic program in which all students feel safe and welcome and can be proud of the school and programs they represent. Hazing in any form, including degrading forms of initiation, is strictly forbidden by California Sate Law. According to the law, no student shall conspire to engage in hazing or commit any act that causes or is likely to cause bodily danger or physical harm to a fellow student or any other person. Hazing of any kind, even verbal or psychological, is not allowed on this campus or in the athletic program, and students violating this policy will be subject to District discipline, misdemeanor penalties and the forfeiture of entitlements. It is the duty of the student to report any acts of hazing to a school administrator or coach.
